Team Leader (Sports Grounds) 

  • Permanent Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $63,750 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 6 + Site Allowance + Leading Hand Allowance 2) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

 

If you are experienced within the preparation and maintenance of sporting and recreation facilities and looking to further your career, this is the opportunity for you!

You will be responsible for supervising and managing the preparation and maintenance of turf in sporting and recreation facilities to ensure it maintains Council’s excellent standards by gardening, irrigation, mowing, repairing, fertilizing, scarifying and rolling.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

 

What we are looking for

  • Knowledge and understanding of soil types, soil structure and nutrient availability.
  • Experience in turf management including the preparation of high quality turf cricket wickets and sportsfields.
  • Ability to work together with others to achieve common goals both within immediate team and teams across Council.
  • Ability to plan and organise tasks/work of a work crew to meet schedules and standards.
  • Very strong knowledge, understanding of, and commitment to WH&S procedures and policies.

Position Requirements

  • Experience in turf management including the preparation of high quality turf cricket wickets and sportsfields.
  • Leadership skills with a commitment to motivating your team to achieve high service standards.
  • Working knowledge of small machines and tools including maintenance and servicing requirements as well as knowledge of maintenance and installation of irrigation systems.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills with the ability build relationships with staff, contractors and the public.
