- Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight or 72.5 hours per fortnight on roster (includes some weekend work)
- $77,663 - $82,604 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 4) + Superannuation

Your new role
Make your mark as Assistant Curator of the brand new Rockhampton Museum of Art.
Since its establishment over 50 years ago, Rockhampton Art Gallery has provided the region of Central Queensland with a visual arts centre that excites, engages and challenges audiences. In 2021, Rockhampton Art Gallery will enter a new phase, as Rockhampton Museum of Art and move into a new 4711sqm facility in the heart of Rockhampton’s cultural precinct. As we grow to become our new institution we are looking for a progressive, engaging, open, genuine person to undertake the role of Assistant Curator.
In line with the exhibition and collection strategies, you will implement a curatorial program that engages conceptually and physically with the region’s community and its visitors to bring about a program that encourages visitation, participation and appreciation of the visual arts.
Working collaboratively within the Curatorial team, you will assist in the development and delivery of a varied and innovative artistic program by way of research, interpretation and documentation of collections, digital assets, new acquisitions and commissioned content.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

Application Criteria
- Degree qualification in Arts History, Visual Arts or Museum Studies (or related discipline) and/or experience within an art gallery/museum environment.
- Knowledge of local, national and international cultural/arts industry and a current knowledge of international museum standards.
- Experience in commissioning, including researching and appointing, contract management, negotiation, budgets and timelines.
- Leadership skills and ability to achieve service levels through direction, collaboration, guidance and embedding a culture of continuous improvement.
- Experience in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships, including representing the institution at events and functions as required.
