Your new role

 

Join our dynamic Communities and Culture team as a casual Assistant Production Technician, where you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional gallery exhibition services across Rockhampton’s major venues. This is your opportunity to bring exhibitions to life by assisting with the installation and de-installation of artworks, managing technical equipment, and ensuring seamless event execution.

In this role, you will handle, hang, and position artworks of various materials with precision and care, contributing to the successful presentation of exhibitions. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with fabrication and painting for exhibitions, ensuring a high standard of presentation. Additionally, you will operate and maintain technical equipment such as lighting, audio, and audiovisual systems to industry best practices.

A key aspect of this role involves safely loading and unloading exhibition items and collaborating with your team to maintain the security, cleanliness, and safety of public areas and technical equipment. This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

  • A positive attitude towards safety with a high level of surrounding awareness.
  • Ability to work under pressure within a fast paced, outcome driven team.
  • Passion for the industry and technical production.
  • Working with Children Blue card is a mandatory requirement for this role.
  • Construction Industry Induction (White Card), Elevated Work Platform Licence, Forklift Licence are highly desirable.

Application Criteria

 

  • Tertiary qualification in Theatre & Events (or equivalent demonstrated industry qualification) and significant experience within a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate, maintain, and supervise the use of advanced technical and staging equipment within performance and exhibition venues.
  • Strong leadership skills with ability lead and supervise teams to ensure event requirements are delivered within required timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with clients, colleagues, and teams across the organisation to achieve common goals and drive successful outcomes.
