Your new role
Council is seeking energetic and customer-focused individuals to work as Librarians who understand the dynamics of a modern library.
As a Librarian, you will bring a higher level of expertise and leadership, assisting with advanced library services, program development, and community engagement initiatives. You will also support the Library Officers and ensure the smooth operation of library services.
These roles require flexibility, as there are no set hours. You will work on an 'as needs' basis to meet the position's requirements, including on-call availability, weekend shifts, and working at different sites according to the library roster.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
- Ability to work adhoc shifts including weekend shifts as per the library roster across the any of our four libraries in the Rockhampton Region.
- Passion for providing excellent customer service to the community by development of physical and online collections that meet customer needs and expectations.
- Strong technical skills and understanding of Library Management Systems and other technologies, and ability to train and support both library staff and customers in their use.
- Degree qualification in library and information management and proven experience in a public library environment
- An interest in public libraries, digital technologies, and a commitment to promoting reading literacy and lifelong learning.
- Ability to undertake physical work that involves regular and repetitive movements such as bending, squatting and pushing trolleys, with ability to carry and lift up to 15kg

Application Criteria
- Degree qualification in library and information management (or related discipline), Blue Card for working with Children and Young People and substantial proven experience in a public library environment.
- Passion for libraries with a commitment to promoting reading and literacy development and assisting clients with use of library resources and facilities.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and customer service, with the ability to provide positive interactions and promptly address the diverse needs of customers.
- Ability to work in a team environment and display a positive, professional attitude.
