Your new role
Join the dynamic team at Rockhampton Museum of Art in this exciting Permanent Part Time opportunity, where you'll play a key role in bringing exhibitions to life. As part of the curatorial and exhibitions team, you’ll contribute to the development, installation, and maintenance of diverse and engaging exhibitions.
Your work will involve hands on tasks such as installing artwork, fabricating displays, installing interpretive and interactive elements, and managing technical requirements including audio, visual, and lighting systems.
You’ll also support the care and handling of artworks, assist with deliveries and documentation, and help ensure the museum’s public and behind-the-scenes spaces are presented to the highest standard. This role offers variety, creativity, and the chance to collaborate with a passionate team to deliver memorable cultural experiences to the community.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
- Experience and passion for art museum environment, particularly relevant to the activities of exhibitions and museum industry best practice.
- Ability to work outside of normal office hours as required, including weekends.
- Strong leadership qualities that inspire and empower a positive and results focused team.
- High level attention to detail with skills in the operation of technical systems including audio, audio visual, lighting and staging.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to problem solve, build relationships with all stakeholders and provide the best customer experience.

Application Criteria
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of object handling to present exhibitions to museum/art gallery standards including conservation best practice standards
- Experience in exhibition installation, de-installation, display fabrication and technical operation of lighting and audio-visual installation and upholding Councils Safety First focus.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a team and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Effective project management skills to ensure the delivery of exhibition components, ensuring a high standard and working to key timeframes.
