- $86,153 – $91,629 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 3) + Superannuation

Your new role
Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a proactive and community minded Local Laws Officer to join our dedicated Local Laws team.
In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the forefront of promoting compliance and safety across the region. You’ll conduct investigations, patrols, and inspections, respond to community concerns, and educate the public on Council’s Local Laws and relevant legislation. With a strong focus on problem-solving and stakeholder engagement, you will be able to communicate effectively with a broad range of people and use your out-of-the-box thinking style to solve problems with innovative solutions.
Ability to work on an ‘on call’ roster including after hours, and occasional weekends is a requirement for this role.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

Application Criteria
- Strong observational skills, enabling accurate identification of evidence and effective problem-solving skills.
- Skilled in customer service, with the ability to negotiate, de-escalate conflicts, and resolve issues professionally and positively.
- Demonstrated effective communication, investigative methods and interviewing to produce well-structured evidence based reports and briefs.
- Confident in assessing, handling, and managing animal behaviours, particularly with cats and dogs.
