Arborist 

  • Permanent / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $72,271 – $73,569 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 4-5 + Site Allowance) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

 

Do you have a passion for arboriculture and ensuring the region’s beautiful trees are maintained to a high standard?

Councils Parks section has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and positive team player to join their team as an Arborist.

You will be responsible for carrying out tree activities in the region including the removal and pruning of street and park trees, assessing of the health of trees and assisting with recommendations for removal or treatment of unhealthy and problem trees. You will take pride in your work and have a passion for the industry and seeing tasks through to completion.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

 

What we are looking for

  • Solid working knowledge of arboriculture practices and techniques as well as an understanding of a range of cutting and pruning equipment.
  • Good time management, planning and organisational skills to ensure you carry out horticultural and arboriculture projects
  • Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
  • Operate and Maintain Chainsaws and Fell Small Trees Certificate.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle under a “MR” Class Licence.
  • Be licenced to undertake traffic control duties as per the Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme.

Application Criteria

  • MR Class Licence, Operate and Maintain Chainsaws and Fell Small Trees Certificate and be licenced to undertake traffic control duties as per the Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme.
  • Qualifications in Certificate II / III Horticulture / Arboriculture and/or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Experience in the safe operation of plant and machinery used for all tree operations and knowledge of effective pruning techniques.
  • Ability to use your initiative while contributing to a positive team environment.
