Sports and Irrigation Gardener
- Permanent Full Time and Fixed Term (12 months) Full Time Opportunity
- Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
- $72,271 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 4 + Site Allowance) + Superannuation
- Location – Rockhampton Region
Your new role
Join Rockhampton Regional Council’s Parks Operations team as a Sports and Irrigation Gardener and play a vital role in shaping the green heart of our community. In this hands-on position, you’ll be responsible for the routine maintenance of Council’s sporting fields and reserves including mowing operations, top dressing, fertilising, herbicide application and irrigation systems.
You’ll work closely with the Team Leader to ensure our sports facilities are maintained to a high standard for sports. From mowing, to installing irrigation systems and preparing sites for community sports events, your work will directly enhance the quality of life in Rockhampton.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

Application Criteria
- Certificate II or III in Horticulture, Sports turf management and/or substantial work experience relevant to the position and a commitment to high service standards.
- Relevant experience in Sports field maintenance, including the use of small plant and specialised turf machinery relevant to the role.
- Practical understanding of Sports field Irrigation systems
- A strong team player that demonstrates positive attitude and promotes a safety-first attitude.
