Sustainability Project Officer

·         Fixed Term (Until 30 June 2026) / Full Time

·         72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight

·         Pro Rata amount of $101,528 $ 105,760 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5) + Superannuation

·         Location – Rockhampton

 

Your new role

 

As a Sustainability Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Council’s sustainability objectives and creating a more resilient future for our region. In this position, you’ll collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to help shape and implement Council’s sustainability policies, strategies and programs. From preparing project documentation to running workshops and driving outcomes, you will deliver a diverse range of initiatives that benefit both Council and the community.

 

Please note: This is a fixed-term position, with potential for extension subject to funding availability.

 

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

 

What we are looking for

  • Understanding of sustainability principles preferably with experience delivering related projects or initiatives.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects within set timeframes.
  • Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to research, analyse, and develop solutions.
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively operate MS Office and quickly learn Council systems.
  • A proactive, adaptable approach and a genuine passion for driving sustainability outcomes.

Application Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding of sustainability principles and practices, preferably with experience in delivering related projects or initiatives. Tertiary qualifications in a related field are desirable but not essential.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to plan, organise, and coordinate multiple tasks or projects within set timeframes, showing efficiency, accountability and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify opportunities and challenges, and develop practical solutions.
