Plant Operator / Labourer 

  • Permanent Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9-day fortnight
  • $73,569 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 5 + Site) + Superannuation

Fitzroy River Water is currently seeking an experienced Plant Operator/Labourer to join our Mount Morgan team. This isn’t just a job – it’s a chance to help shape the future of water and wastewater services for the region.

In this role, you’ll be working on a variety of major projects, including water pipeline upgrades and installations, treatment plant enhancements, and other essential civil works. Your day-to-day will include a dynamic mix of tasks - from operating excavators, backhoes, and skid steers to truck driving and essential labouring work like pipe laying and concreting.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Solid labouring background, supported by the required licences and tickets.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working outdoors and is comfortable with physically demanding tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and grow, with the motivation to take on the full variety of duties carried out within the team.
  • A proactive approach to safety with the ability to recognise hazards, assess risks, and contribute to a safe work environment.
  • Experience in general or site maintenance activities relating to water and sewerage infrastructure (highly regarded but not essential).

  • Demonstrated experience in general construction or maintenance labouring, supported by relevant operational tickets such as MR Truck Licence, Excavator, Backhoe and Skid Steer.
  • A positive, safety-focused attitude with a strong commitment to safe work practices
