Cadet Civil Designer

  • Permanent Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $77,005 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 1.6) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

Are you currently undertaking or eligible to commence studying towards an Engineering (Civil) qualification and have a passion for Civil Design?  Council is seeking a highly motivated Cadet Civil Designer to join their busy team.

You will have a positive attitude towards learning and development and be committed to completing the required studies externally whilst working full time.

In this exciting developmental role you will be responsible for assisting in a range of investigation, survey, design, drafting and documentation services associated with municipal infrastructure and other projects. Your flexibility and experience will positively contribute to the team environment ensuring your success in the role.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Applicants with experience using computer aided drafting software (e.g. AutoCAD) and a keen interest to develop their skills are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • You will have knowledge of Engineering and/or Civil Design principles and have the ability to prepare basic drawings and cost estimates.
  • You possess a high level of attention to detail and have the ability to organise your time effectively to achieve goals. 
  • Ability to work together with others to achieve common goals both within immediate team and teams across Council

Application Criteria

  • Currently undertaking or be eligible for entrance to a relevant tertiary course such as an Associate Diploma in Engineering (Civil).
  • Experience using the MS Office suite and ability to gain knowledge of computer aided drafting software (in particular AutoCAD Release 2023 or later).
  • Develop basic drawings for inclusion in project documentation or for other purposes.
  • Time management, planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines and goals.
