  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $103,009 - $109,391 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 4 (38) + Site Allowance) + Superannuation

Your new role

Rockhampton Regional Council are seeking Supervisors to join our Open Spaces and Recreation team at our Northside and Southside depots.

As a Supervisor Parks Operations, you’ll play a key role in shaping and maintaining the Rockhampton region’s parks and open spaces. This is a hands-on leadership position where you’ll oversee day-to-day maintenance and construction activities, while also contributing to long-term planning and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

You’ll lead a dedicated team, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and customer service, and work closely with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to deliver projects that enhance our community spaces. Your ability to manage resources, budgets, and timelines will be critical, as will your commitment to fostering a positive team culture and driving best practice in parks management.

 

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

 

What we are looking for

  • Strong leadership qualities and skills with knowledge and experience in leading a team to success. 
  • Demonstrated experience in the fields of park development and maintenance and/or related fields including horticulture, machinery operations, open space cleansing and irrigation.
  • Highly experienced strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to work well in a high pressure environment, continuing to uphold a high attention to detail and quality outcomes.
  • Driver of positive and inclusive safety culture throughout your team.
  • Excellent communication skills to provide specialist advice and assist in the planning of the region’s parks assets and open spaces.
  • High level knowledge of contract management and tender development.
  • Highly motivated with a forward thinking mentality and proven experience in overseeing and organising work schedules and resources to ensure efficient completion of work at multiple locations.

Application Criteria

  • Qualifications in Certificate III Horticulture (or related discipline) and extensive knowledge and a high level of expertise in parks and open space maintenance and construction.
  • Well-developed leadership skills and experience with proven ability to mentor and motivate staff to promote a culture of personal growth, safety and delivery of results.
  • Strong project management skills and experience in the development of work maintenance programs, and co-ordinating resources to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Ability to contribute to and drive a positive Safety First culture within your team.
