Maintenance and Livestock Specialist

- Heritage Roster, Tuesday to Saturday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
- $72,271 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 4 + Site Allowance) + Superannuation

Your new role
As the Maintenance and Livestock Specialist at the Rockhampton Heritage Village, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing our unique cultural tourism experience to life. Working as part of the Heritage Services team, you’ll help care for a variety of livestock, support the daily operation of the Village, and maintain the grounds, facilities and heritage spaces that make our site so special.
Every day will bring variety, from caring for horses and other livestock, preparing displays, and interacting with visitors, to operating plant and equipment, assisting with events, and maintaining our heritage precinct. You’ll also work closely with volunteers, providing guidance and supporting their involvement across the Village.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
- Experience handling and caring for a variety of livestock, particularly a variety of horse breeds.
- Ability to operate motorised vehicles.
- Experience operating horticultural equipment and possess or be willing to undergo tickets/qualifications in zero turn mowers, tractor, forklift and bobcat.
- Experience in identifying and managing noxious weeds and pests.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to do a variety of physical indoor and outdoor work.
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays.

Application Criteria
- Experience in animal husbandry and stable management, particularly working with a wide variety of horse breeds, Farrier experience desirable.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to provide training and mentoring to staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrated Experience in grounds maintenance and horticulture including equipment such as tractors.
