Your new role

Fitzroy River Water is looking for a motivated Treatment Plant Operator who's excited to play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality water and sewerage services to our community.

You'll bring strong technical know-how, a safety-first mindset and the confidence to operate and fine-tune treatment processes that keep our systems performing at their best. If you enjoy variety, solving problems on the go and working both independently and within a supportive team, then this is the role for you. 

What we are looking for

  • Strong technical knowledge of water treatment processes, regulatory requirements and water quality standards.
  • Proven ability to operate, monitor and maintain treatment plant systems, including inspections, calibrations, chemical handling and accurate data recording.
  • A self-motivated operator who can work independently, prioritise tasks, solve problems and make sound operational decisions.
  • A team-focused communicator who provides excellent customer service.
  • Appropriate qualifications and hands-on treatment plant experience.

Application Criteria

  • Certificate II or higher in Water and/or Sewage Treatment Plant Operation and experience as an operator of water treatment plants.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of water treatment processes and drinking water supply systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and liaise with all key stakeholders ensuring a positive outcome is reached.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound operational decisions, showing strong problem-solving skills, effective task prioritisation and a commitment to maintaining a safe, risk-aware work environment.
