Development Engineer

  • Permanent / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $102,311 – $117,686 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5-6 Depending on experience) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

 

An exciting new opportunity is available to join Rockhampton Regional Council as a Development Engineer.

 

As a Development Engineer, you will contribute to shaping our region by providing high quality development assessment services across a wide range of projects. You’ll assess Reconfiguration of Lots, Material Change of Use and Operational Works applications, applying your civil engineering expertise to ensure proposed infrastructure, such as water, sewerage, transport, roads, pathways and stormwater systems, meets statutory requirements and aligns with sound engineering principles. 

 

You’ll also play an important role in ensuring compliance through site inspections, reviewing technical reports and designs, and offering clear, informed advice to internal and external stakeholders. This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

  • Civil Engineer with relevant experience in development assessment and municipal infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of the Planning Act 2016 and applicable technical standards, guidelines and policies.
  • Proven ability to review engineering designs, prepare clear technical reports and provide sound advice.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a collaborative and customer focused approach.
  • Strong organisational, problem solving and time management skills, with the ability to deliver quality outcomes within required timeframes.

Application Criteria

  • Bachelor level qualifications in Civil Engineering and/or relevant experience including assessment of development applications, planning, design and construction of municipal infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of statutory and technical guidelines relevant to the planning and design of municipal infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and draft correspondence, reports and other relevant documentation.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills to effectively negotiate positive outcomes, present reports and problem solve.
