Team Leader – Arboriculture
- Fixed Term (12 months) / Full Time
- Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
- Pro Rata amount of $81,874 per annum (LGIA Stream B L6 + Site Allowance + Leading Hand Allowance 2) + Superannuation
- Location – Rockhampton
Your new role
As the Team Leader Arboriculture, you will lead a skilled team responsible for the care and management of Rockhampton’s trees and streetscapes. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll oversee daily vegetation management operations, conduct tree health assessments, and deliver specialist arboriculture treatments across the region’s parks and public spaces.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining the safety, health, and aesthetic value of the region’s green assets, while mentoring team members and ensuring compliance with Council procedures and WH&S standards. Your ability to plan, supervise, and contribute to arboriculture projects will help shape a greener, safer, and more vibrant community.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
- Demonstrate arboriculture experience in the safe operation of plant and machinery used for all tree operations with a good knowledge and understanding of WH&S procedures and policies.
- Leadership qualities and supervisory skills with knowledge and experience in leading a team to success.
- Good time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of the health of street and park trees.
- Ability to lead, educate and contribute to the improved knowledge of proper tree care among staff of the Section.

Application Criteria
- Qualifications in Certificate III and substantial demonstrated experience in the field of arboriculture.
- Construction Industry Induction (White Card), Operate and Maintain Chainsaws and Fell Small Trees Certificate and licenced to undertake traffic control duties as per the Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme
- Demonstrated leadership experience with good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach and mentor employees to build industry specific knowledge.
