Public Engagement Officer

  • Fixed Term (Until July 2027) / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • Pro Rata amount of $86,816 – $92,335 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 3) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

Do you have a strong interest and knowledge in arts, education, public engagement and are looking to take the next step in your career? Rockhampton Museum of Art is looking for a motivated individual to join their team as a Public Engagement Officer.

This exciting role builds and deepens audience engagement at Rockhampton Museum of Art by developing, implementing and evaluating programs that engage our region’s community and its visitors. This position delivers innovative, connected and sustainable learning experiences and creates opportunities that add value and support the exhibition program, permanent collection and public programs for Rockhampton Museum of Art. This position may also work weekends and outside of normal office hours as required.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

Application Criteria

  • Broad knowledge in fields such as arts education, museum studies, visual arts administration, and experience in planning and organising innovative public programs and events to deepen and broaden participation.
  • Ability to find creative solutions and apply entrepreneurial thinking to projects to source alternative funding.
  •  Demonstrated ability to plan workload, achieve set goals, priorities tasks, meet deadlines, undertake and deliver short term projects and project-based tasks.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain partnerships and relationships with all stakeholders
  • Understanding of First Nations-appropriate practices and cultural awareness and terminology.
