Arboriculture Gardener / Arborist

  • Permanent / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $72,814 – $74,121 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 4/5 + Site Allowance) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Councils Arboriculture and Street Scapes unit has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and reliable team player to join our team as an Arboriculture Gardener / Arborist. This role is ideal for someone with experience or someone ready to develop their skills further in a hands on, practical environment. 

 

Working across our streets, parks and public spaces, you’ll play an important role in maintaining and enhancing the region’s urban tree network, helping keep our community safe and thriving. 

 

Your day to day work will include 

  • Tree pruning, removal and general arboriculture works
  • Assessing tree health and identifying potential risks
  • Supporting recommendations for treatment or removal of problem trees
  • Operating and maintaining arboriculture and horticultural equipment
  • Working safely as part of a close knit, experienced crew 

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

 

What we are looking for

  • Genuine interest or experience in arboriculture practices and techniques as well as an understanding of a range of cutting and pruning equipment.
  • Good time management, planning and organisational skills.
  • “C” Class Driver Licence.

Possess or ability to obtain:

  • Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
  • Operate and Maintain Chainsaws and Fell Small Trees Certificate.
  • Undertake traffic control duties as per the Traffic Controller Accreditation Scheme.
