Trainee Treatment Plant Operator

  • Fixed Term Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight

Your new role

Fitzroy River Water has an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join their team as a Treatment Plant Operator Trainee to study towards a Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment which has a 24-month nominal study term.

With hands-on mentoring from qualified staff, you will learn how to monitor and analyse water and/or sewage treatment plant processes and the status of other key water and sewerage system assets.

Council is committed to providing progression opportunities during the traineeship. This progression is based on the trainee’s completion of required modules and development of practical skills within the required timeframe.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • A genuine interest in water treatment or plant operations, with a willingness to complete a Certificate III in Water Industry Treatment
  • A strong safety mindset and commitment to following procedures and regulatory requirements
  • A reliable team player with a positive attitude who communicates well and contributes to a supportive work environment
  • The ability to learn new skills, follow instructions, and manage tasks effectively in a
  • A current C Class driver’s licence and the flexibility to work across indoor and outdoor environments 

To be eligible for this role, applicants must be:

  • Aged 16 years or older and no longer at school.
  • Able to meet citizen, residency and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship.
  • C Class Driver Licence
