Gardener

  • Fixed Term (12 months) / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • Pro Rata amount of $72,814 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 4 + Site Allowance) + Superannuation
  • Location – Gracemere

Your new role 

Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking a motivated Gardener to become part of our Parks Operations team in Gracemere.

 

In this role, you’ll help keep our parks, gardens, and open spaces looking their best. From mowing and planting to irrigation and equipment upkeep, you’ll play an important part in creating safe, attractive, and welcoming spaces for the community to enjoy. Working closely with the Team Leader, you’ll contribute to delivering high quality horticultural services that make a real difference.

 

This is a hands-on outdoor position where your practical skills, teamwork, and commitment to great service will shine. If you enjoy working in nature and take pride in maintaining beautiful spaces, this is the role for you.

 

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

 

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in horticulture and open space maintenance.
  • Hold a current C Class Licence (MR Licence Desirable and a Construction Industry White Card.
  • Ability to safely operate and maintain small machinery including but not limited to tractors, mowers, brush cutters, blowers and other plant.
  • A motivated, proactive, self-starter with a passion to deliver quality horticulture works.
  • Someone who enjoys and is capable of physical and outdoor work.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to carry out your duties in a safe manner whilst ensuring the safety of your team members and public.

Application Criteria

  • Hold a C Class licence, construction White Card, and Certificate II or III in Horticulture or equivalent and/or substantial work experience within a horticultural environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with irrigation, safe operation of zero turn mowers, whipper snippers, blowers and adhering to WHS procedures.
  • A strong team player that demonstrates positive attitude and can work independently.
