Sports and Active Communities Advisor
- Fixed Term (12 months) / Full Time
- Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
- Pro Rata amount of $102,311 – $106,576 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5) + Superannuation
- Location – Rockhampton
Your new role
As a Sports and Active Communities Advisor, you will support the delivery of high-quality sport, recreation and active community outcomes across the Rockhampton Region. Working closely with the Sports and Active Communities Coordinator, you will help manage Council’s relationships with sporting clubs and community organisations, providing professional advice and support in relation to tenure, leasing and facility-related matters.
You will contribute to the growth, sustainability and continuous improvement of sport and recreation services by supporting capital projects, strategic initiatives, grant and funding opportunities, and stakeholder engagement activities. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work directly with community groups and internal teams to enhance participation, optimise facility use and strengthen active communities.
What we are looking for
- Demonstrated knowledge in sport and recreation management, community development or business management.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships, with sporting clubs, community organisations and internal teams.
- Proven ability to provide high-quality customer service, including clear written and verbal communication and a solution-focused approach.
- Experience supporting or delivering projects, capital work, leases or tenure arrangements within a community, sporting or government environment.
- Well-developed organisational, problem-solving and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to change.

Application Criteria
- Comprehensive knowledge of sports and recreation management, community development and business management, with a strong background in lease and tenure agreements.
- Experience in engaging with Community, setting strategic direction and developing Sport & Recreation programs that meet community needs.
- Proven flexibility in adapting methods to suit immediate needs or stakeholder feedback, and how you have integrated these into practical and actionable solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to engage & interact with sporting and community groups, council members and other public entities.
