Industry Engagement and Sponsorship Officer

  • Permanent / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9-day fortnight
  • $94,173 - $100,171 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 4) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

Advance Rockhampton leads tourism, events, marketing and economic development for Rockhampton Regional Council. This position requires an enthusiastic team member to build and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders and corporate sponsors to provide effective and efficient industry and community engagement and sponsorship attraction for our major events.

You will work in a professional, efficient and confidential manner, ensuring the development of good working relationships with all staff, stakeholders and the public.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • A proactive individual, motivated to work autonomously and collaboratively with a team to effectively deliver the Rockhampton Regional Council major events program.
  • Demonstrable achievement securing and retaining event sponsor relationships ranging from high-value commercial partners to in-kind support and identifying innovative revenue opportunities across a diverse program of major events or similar.
  • Proven organisational skills to strive in a fast paced, cross-functional, ever-changing environment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with event and entertainment industry, corporate enterprise, small business, and community stakeholders at any level, toward strategically aligned outcomes with robust and transparent accountability.
  • Engaging and enthusiastic approach, with an understanding of economic development and destination-making through stakeholder engagement and business development.
  • Degree qualification in Business/Marketing/Communications and/or demonstrated professional experience in business development, marketing or communications within a sponsorship and revenue generation role.

  • Experience engaging corporate, small business and community stakeholders, with a proven ability to attract and retain high-value partners and identify new revenue opportunities.
  • Diverse experience with business development, marketing & communications across both business and consumer segments within tourism and events.
  • Ability to plan and work independently in a fast-paced, cross-functional yet collaborative environment, effectively contributing to strategic goals, delivering and managing measurable value to financial, economic and other targets or benchmarks.
