Community Project Officer

  • Permanent Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $102,311 - $105,760 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 5) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

Are you a skilled project administrator or experienced tradesperson ready to step into a dynamic and rewarding role? Join us as a Community Projects Officer and play a key part in delivering impactful projects for the community.

In this exciting opportunity, you will lead the preparation and coordination of project scopes, briefs, design requirements, specifications, and tender documentation. You’ll also oversee contract administration and approvals, ensuring every project is set up for success from the very beginning.

Taking on the role of Contract Superintendent representative, you will drive project delivery to meet timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Your expertise will also be essential in evaluating tenders and managing contracts throughout the project lifecycle.

With your strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, you’ll build positive relationships with stakeholders and confidently navigate project challenges, making a real difference in the community through high-quality project outcomes.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Provide effective project management for capital and operational works undertaken in relation to community services directorate projects.
  • Ability to provide progress reports on project status, variances and recommendations with regular reporting to the unit and section management as well to project owners on a monthly basis.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with contractors and stakeholders in relation to any outstanding issues with regards to progress around completed projects.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications; prepare procedural documentation, technical and status reports.
  • Applicants who hold a Construction Industry Induction (White Card) and have tertiary qualification in Project Management (or related discipline) and/or equivalent demonstrated experience.

Application Criteria

  • Tertiary qualification in Project Management (or related discipline) or Trade Qualification (relevant to the duties) and experience in a similar role.
  • Ability to manage and supervise projects within required timeframes, budgets and constraints.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of tender and contract administration processes.
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on the provision of quality customer service.
