Operational and Compliance Officer

  • Permanent / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $94,173 – $100,171 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 4) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

Step into a high-impact role as an Operational & Compliance Officer, supporting Council’s Waste and Recycling Facilities to deliver efficient, compliant and sustainable operations.

This role combines hands-on project delivery with a strong focus on compliance and best-practice waste management. You will support facility operations through accurate data management, regulatory reporting, and ensuring adherence to environmental and statutory requirements.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Strong grasp of environmental compliance and relevant legislation
  • Data-driven with solid reporting and analytical skills
  • Highly organised with strong time management
  • Confident communicator and team collaborator
  • Relevant qualification in Environmental Science, Engineering (or related discipline) and a White Card

Application Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience delivering operational projects and supporting site activities, including inspections, contractor coordination and procedure implementation.
  • Experience applying environmental compliance and relevant legislation in an operational setting.
  • Proven ability to analyse data and produce clear, accurate reports to support decision-making.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate and provide practical advice to stakeholder.
  • Relevant qualification in Civil or Environmental Science, Engineering or a related discipline.
