Electrician

  • Permanent Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • $43.24 – $46.82 per hour (LGIA Stream C C10-C7 + Site + Tool Allowance + Leading Hand Allowance 2) (Minimum rate depending on qualifications and experience)

Your new role

Are you a motivated and trade-qualified Electrician looking to work locally and be home every night?

As an Electrician within Council’s Facilities team, you’ll play a key role in ensuring the safe, compliant and efficient operation of a diverse range of Council assets across the Rockhampton Region.

Working as part of a skilled, multi-disciplinary team, you’ll carry out a wide range of electrical installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding activities. From day-to-day maintenance and breakdown repairs through to contributing to project works, you’ll apply your technical expertise across a variety of environments.

This is a hands-on and varied role where no two days are the same. You’ll utilise your knowledge of Australian Standards, Electrical Safety legislation and best practice to deliver high-quality outcomes, while also contributing to asset lifecycle management and continuous improvement initiatives.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance, testing and fault-finding across a range of equipment and facilities
  • Strong knowledge of Australian Standards, Electrical Safety legislation and safe work practices
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret plans, drawings and specifications
  • Experience using electrical testing equipment (e.g. insulation testers, multimeters, RCD testers) and accurately recording results
  • Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve and deliver practical solutions
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work effectively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship and continuous improvement.
