Audit & Business Improvement Committee Members (2 positions)

Rockhampton Regional Council is recruiting two independent members to its Audit and Business Improvement Committee (ABIC).
The ABIC is a key legislated advisory committee providing independent and objective assurance and strategic advice on governance, risk and organisational performance.
We are particularly seeking experienced internal audit professionals, or similar, with sound independent judgement and the demonstrated capability to contribute at a committee/board level.
About the role
Members are expected to provide independent, objective advice across areas including:
- Committee/board capability
- Financial reporting and financial management
- Internal audit and assurance
- Enterprise risk management
- Governance
- Digital (Cyber, AI, information systems / SaaS)
- Safety
- Local government
Qualifications
Relevant professional qualifications/memberships required (e.g. IIA, CPA Australia, RMIA, Governance Institute) and/or significant equivalent experience.
Appointments
- Two vacancies due to upcoming retirements (one member and one Chair)
- One appointment for 2 years, one for 3 years (as advised in letter of appointment)
Remuneration & commitment
- Annual fee: $10,000 + GST (member) and $14,000 + GST (Chair)
(covers preparation, attendance and all associated duties)
- Meetings: ~4 per year (approximately 4 hours each)
- Expenses: Reasonable travel and accommodation reimbursed
Applicants must hold, or be able to obtain, an ABN prior to commencement.
