Maintenance and Livestock Team leader

  • Permanent / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 38 hours per week, 9 day fortnight
  • $79,581 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 5 + Site Allowance + Leading Hand Allowance 2) + Superannuation

Your new role

Step into a hands-on leadership role where history comes to life. As the Maintenance and Livestock Team Leader, you’ll take the reins of a dynamic team responsible for maintaining and restoring a vibrant Heritage Village, preserving the past while creating memorable visitor experiences.

This is more than just maintenance. From restoring artefacts and caring for livestock to overseeing site presentation and supporting community events, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how the community connects with its heritage. You’ll lead, mentor and coordinate staff and volunteers, ensuring safe, efficient and high-quality operations across the site.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and develop staff and volunteers
  • Experience in handyman, maintenance and/or restoration work
  • Experience working with livestock, including horses and animal care practices
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work, with sound problem solving and decision-making skills

Application Criteria

  • Must hold a valid White Card. Desirable to have Certificates of Competency to operate mobile plant equipment (Forklift, Tractor, and Skid Steer/Bobcat) or willing to obtain.   
  • Proven ability to lead, train and coordinate staff/volunteers, delivering effective site operations alongside strong safety, compliance, risk management and record-keeping practices.
  • Extensive hands-on experience in maintenance, mechanical work and restoration of vehicles, buildings and artefacts, with demonstrated mechanical aptitude to inspect, troubleshoot, maintain and safely operate amusement rides and equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience in handyman and restoration work combined with strong expertise in livestock husbandry, care, handling and welfare management (including horses).
