Climate Risk and Resilience Advisor 

  • Fixed Term (until November 2027) / Full Time
  • Monday to Friday, 72.5 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
  • Pro Rata amount of $115,495-$123,252 per annum (LGIA Stream A Level 6) + Superannuation
  • Location – Rockhampton

Your new role

Are you passionate about helping communities prepare for a changing climate? We're seeking an experienced Climate Risk and Resilience Advisor to lead and support climate risk management, adaptation and resilience initiatives across Council. 

In this influential role, you'll work across the organisation to embed climate risk considerations into strategic planning, governance, asset management and decision-making. You'll facilitate climate risk assessments, develop resilience initiatives, provide expert advice to senior leaders and help drive Council's climate risk management maturity, organisational resilience and long-term sustainability.  

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Strong knowledge and experience in climate risk management, adaptation, resilience, sustainability and governance frameworks.
  • Ability to analyse complex issues, develop practical solutions and prepare high-quality strategic documentation.
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops, influence outcomes and collaborate with diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Experience driving change, building organisational capability and embedding new processes across multiple teams.

Application Criteria

  • Degree qualifications in climate risk management, sustainability, planning, asset management, strategic risk management, organisational change, or demonstrated experience in climate risk, adaptation, resilience, sustainability, governance and risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex issues, identify risks and opportunities, develop solutions, and prepare high-quality reports, business cases, briefings, and funding applications.
  • Proven ability to facilitate workshops, build stakeholder relationships, and collaborate effectively to achieve shared outcomes.
  • Ability to coordinate and influence across teams, drive organisational capability building and change, and embed new practices into business operations.
