Are you mechanically minded and want to start a career pathway into Fitting and Turning? Join our team at Rockhampton Regional Council by applying for an Apprentice Fitter and Turner position.
Our skilled trade professionals will assist you to apply your practical skills and gain knowledge to perform a wide range of maintenance functions for equipment including mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment, pumps, motors, and chemical dosing equipment, mobile and fixed machinery. You will gain valuable hands-on experience welding, using small plant and tools, fault finding and caring out plant investigations and understanding plan maintenance practices and principles. With the help of our qualified team, gain your Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade which has 4-year nominal study term.
Your enthusiasm and passion will motivate you to be a valuable team member and produce quality outcomes by taking pride in your work.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

Assessment & Selection Period

Tuesday, 8 September – Thursday, 10 September 2026
To be eligible for this role, applicants must be
- Aged 15 years or older and no longer at school.
- Able to meet citizen, residency, and visa requirements to undertake a traineeship.
- In possession of a C Class Driver Licence (Minimum Provisional).
- Able to complete a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
