- Fixed Term (6 months - October 2026 until March 2027) / Full Time
- Monday to Friday, 76 hours per fortnight, 9 day fortnight
- Pro Rata amount of $76,114 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 4 + Site Allowance) + Superannuation

Are you passionate about horticulture, arboriculture, or gardening and love working outdoors?
Rockhampton Regional Council is looking for enthusiastic and safety-conscious Gardeners to join our Open Spaces and Recreation team on a 6-month fixed-term contract. With three positions available across our teams, this is your opportunity to make a visible impact in your community.
In this hands on role, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the region’s parks, gardens and open spaces. From mowing and planting to irrigation and pest control, your work will help keep our public spaces vibrant, safe, and welcoming for residents and visitors alike.
You’ll bring a strong understanding of labouring and horticultural practices, a commitment to safe work procedures and the ability to operate and maintain a range of plant and equipment.
This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).
What we are looking for
- Ability to hold and maintain a C Class Driver Licence (Minimum Provisional) and Construction White Card or ability to obtain (Mandatory)
- Ability to safely operate mowers, brush cutters, chain saws and blowers
- A motivated, proactive, self-starter with a passion to deliver quality horticulture works
- Excellent communication, teamwork and customer service skills
- Someone who enjoys and is capable of physical outdoor work
- MR Truck licence desirable
