Team Leader

  • Monday to Thursday, 76 hours per fortnight, 8-day fortnight
  • $85,343 per annum (LGIA Stream B Level 6 + Site + Leading Hand 2) + Superannuation

Your new role

Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking an experienced Team Leader to join our Rural Operations team in Gracemere. Reporting to the Rural Supervisor, you will coordinate and supervise a multi-skilled crew delivering a variety of civil construction, maintenance and infrastructure projects across the Region.

This hands-on leadership role involves planning daily work activities, allocating resources, monitoring work quality, and ensuring all tasks are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with Council standards. You will lead by example, support and mentor team members, and contribute to the maintenance and improvement of Council's rural infrastructure assets.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check - Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check).

What we are looking for

  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (or equivalent experience) with a solid background in civil construction and maintenance works.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to coordinate, supervise and motivate a crew to achieve quality outcomes.
  • Experience planning and coordinating daily works, resources and personnel to meet operational priorities, with a strong commitment to workplace health and safety and safe work practices.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships and provide clear direction to crews.
  • Practical experience in concreting, pipe laying and culvert construction, with the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and work within specified standards and tolerances.

Application Criteria

  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience, with the ability to coordinate crews undertaking civil construction and road maintenance activities.
  • Strong commitment to workplace health and safety, with demonstrated knowledge of WH&S legislation, policies and safe work practices.
  • Extensive proven experience in civil maintenance and construction works, including pipe laying, concreting, road construction and maintenance activities.
  • HR Class Truck Licence (HC Class Licence desirable or willingness to obtain) and competency operating a Skid Steer and Excavator.
