Manager Fleet and Facilities

Your new role 

Are you a strategic leader with experience in asset management, facilities management, and fleet operations? 

Rockhampton Regional Council is seeking an experienced Manager Fleet and Facilities to lead a diverse and high-performing team responsible for the management, maintenance and improvement of Council’s fleet, facilities and community assets. 

Reporting directly to the General Manager Organisational Services and forming part of Council’s Wider Leadership Team, this role is responsible for driving strategic asset management practices, overseeing fleet operations, delivering capital improvement programs and ensuring Council’s assets are managed using a whole-of-life approach. 

You will lead the development and implementation of asset management strategies, oversee facilities and fleet performance, manage significant operational and capital budgets, and provide expert advice to Council, senior leaders and stakeholders. This position plays a vital role in ensuring Council assets continue to support operational excellence, community service delivery and long-term sustainability.

This position requires the completion of a satisfactory Criminal History Check – Police Certificate (Australia Wide Name Only Police Check). 

What we are looking for 

  • Degree qualification in Engineering, Facilities Management or a related discipline, and/or significant experience in asset, fleet or facilities management. 
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams, driving performance, collaboration and staff development. 
  • Strong understanding of asset lifecycle management, strategic planning, continuous improvement and capital project delivery. 
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management, financial planning, operational planning and delivering organisational outcomes. 
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication, analytical and change management skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and deliver results in a complex environment.

  • Demonstrated experience leading asset management, fleet operations and facilities management functions, including the development and implementation of lifecycle asset management strategies. 
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, manage operational and capital budgets, and deliver strategic and operational objectives. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing asset performance, capital projects, maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives within a complex organisational environment. 
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills, including experience working with senior executives, elected representatives, contractors, government agencies and the community. 
  • Highly developed strategic thinking, analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to provide expert advice, manage risk and drive organisational outcomes.
